- Students and migrant workers mainly
- scabs...nah, the post needs to be delivered or this maybe the end of the royal mail, both sides are acting like small children. I dont know who they are, hopefully the growing number of unemployed.
- i hope all of them do, the Royal mail is a waste of money and i would rather a proper company deliver my post, one that is accountable. How many times have they lost my packages and send me a pack of stamps. I have already changed my post service i advise everyone to do the same.
- Probably agency staff and those not affilated to the union or those that dont agree with the reasons for the walk out, but see that modernisation is the only way the royal mail is going to survive.
- Apparently the Post Office normally recruit 15,000 temporary staff every year to help out with the Christmas rush. This year however, they are going to hire 30,000. Heard on the news last week that the response from the public to fill these temporary jobs has been overwhelming. I think that people who have lost their jobs due to this recession are applying to try and earn some money. And that seems to be happening across the board - students cannot find part-time or Saturday jobs because they have been filled by people who are taking anything they can get at the moment! Sad sign of the times when you think that a fully qualified construction worker or proven qualified middle manager are having to resort to such drastic measures. And we all know who we can thank for that!!
- economic migrants probably, if you see a line of agency agents outside the head quarters having a digging match you can bet it will be economic migrants getting hired to fill the roles.
- Turns out a load of them have criminal convictions, apparently. Not so sure I want an ex-criminal handling my post, if I'm sending cheques, money etc. in the post. I believe they basically employed anyone who sent in an application.
- It will be scabs crossing the picket line, plus illegal immigrants.
