Can i request an address change from USPS from my husbands moms house to ours,i think they are using his name?

on bills they have, phone service, magazine subscriptions,etc.. We are in the process of buying a house and we just seen his credit report stated that he just opened a phone account, and that we need to contact them, but i really would like to catch this in action myself. His family is known to do things like this. For one, his own mother froze his income tax papers once, due to her claiming head of household long ago when he was. So anyways back to my question is it illegal to actually do an address change from his moms house to our condo, and even maybe his brothers house? It will be my husbands name, i just want to make sure noone is using his name or social security.

Have your husband go to the Post Office and fill out the necessary papers. Also go to annualcreditreport.com (DO NOT USE THE WORD FREE) and have credit reports made. Any activity in his name can be spotted.
Just go to the post office and fill out a change of address form.
