Can I be a fleet manager for any type of transportation company with a degree in Transportation Management?

My plan when exiting college is to become a fleet manager or a dispatch manager if that makes sense. I would like to work possibly for a public transportation company or a UPS or Fedex type company. My question is, would a degree in transportation management qualify me for this type of job or do I need a strictly transportation degree? I feel that a degree in transportation management instead of a strictly transportation degree would be appropriate considering my career choice and also that some transportation companys only require a diploma and some experience to qualify, would this be an accurate assumption, please leave your comments, I have tried so hard to get an answer for this question.
