Can I pick up my paycheck from the post office instead of waiting for it to be delivered home?

see, i get my paycheck every friday in the mail and this Christmas the 25th is going to be friday. I need that money to buy presents but the mailman wont deliver that day! Im wondering if just for this one time I can go to the post office myself before friday (like thursday morning) and pick up my mail. Is this possible? will the post office allow this?

1. call the post office, there may be an exception because it's christmas, but definetly call.
2. Call and ask, but I seriously doubt that they can do this. Can't you borrow money from someone with the promise of paying them back just as soon as you get your check cashed?
3. the post office has a minimum of a three day hold for mail. so put your mail on hold starting 12/21 with a pickup date of 12/24. this way they are covered and you get your check. just call your local post office to schedule the hold or put a note to your carrier in your mailbox stating the dates of the hold and sign your name and address. hope this helps.
