What obligations postal office has if they lost a certified letter?
All they are willing to do is give me my postage back when it resulted in $800 loss.

- ZERO POINT ZERO Unless you sent it registered and bought insurance.
- not a darn thing. you really should have gotten insurance on it. you could try to sue, however the PO is in such a crappy place financially that you probably wouldn't get ur 800 bucks back.
- Right. They will refund the postage. There are some situations you can get into where you can experience a loss and have not hope of compensation. This is one of them. Other such situations include loaning money or valuables to relatives, buying a horse, or marrying badly.
