What is an Automated Postal Center?

I am just wondering what this is exactly? My city has two postal offices. One that is only open 8:30-5:30 and the other that is open 24 hours. Am I able to go inside the automated Postal Service before the package gets shipped to the regular postal office? The package has not arrived yet.

  1. An automated center is the plant where the mail is sorted and processed. And NO you cannot go there.
  2. An "Automated Postal Center" is what USPS calls their self-service kiosk that lets you weigh your packages and buy postage without assistance. It doesn't have anything to do with the behind-the-scenes mail processing, which you can't intercept anyway. Let them do their job.
