Postal change of address: how long does it take the post office to put this into effect?
The day I moved (yesterday), I dropped by at the local post office and submitted a change of address form effective on that day. I since learnt that I was mailed a very important letter that same day to the old address. Will the Post office forward this letter to my new address or my old one? Is the “Change of Address” immediately put into effect?

- If the letter came from anywhere outside of your main post office area (old house) you should be okay. The post office can implement typically by the next day, so unless it was mailed locally, it should be forwarded.
- It should be forwarded. To be safe, you could check at your old address or call the post office.
