How do I mail a letter using usps from US to Malaysia?

I have a friend that just moved there and I want to mail her a letter. What is the process and the postage/stamp that is necessary. More importantly how long does it take to arrive to Malaysia if mailed by usps? Thanks also can I use the forever stamp, first class?

1. You can look up postal rates at usps.com, but I know to send a letter to Germany (maybe everywhere in Europe) it's double the normal national postage (is it 44 cents or 42? I know in 2008 it was 90 cents to send to Germany, it's double whatever the normal postage is) and it would usually take 10-14 days to get there, sometimes I'd get luck and it'd get there in a week. I don't know what the forever stamp is, sorry!

3. usps.com would let you know the price based on weight. Yes you can use the forever stamp - but the proper number. You can use a Kisosh at a post office and weight it and get correct postage by their computer.

5. Download the shipping assistant software from the USPS web site. Enter your address and the recipients address and shipping assistant will calculate the postage. You can then print a shipping label, add stamps and drop the letter in the mail.
