What do I need to know about the post office not delivering my mail because?
The postman said their were dogs in the neighborhood that were aggressive. Understand this, they are not my dogs but there are dogs that run loose, not always but there are older ppl that can't get the dogs once they are loose. The post office is wanting me to put a mailbox on the corner, which is about 100 ft away. PLEASE NOTE: I am not the one giving thumbs down. I really appreaciate your answers.

- Do it if you want your mail.
- unfortunately they have to look out for their own skins and NOTHING you receive is more important than that. (unless youre getting mail order DIY kidneys and such) im going to wager you should either put in the box as they say or (more annoying) get a PO box.
- Dogs shouldn't be running loose no matter whose dogs they are. Call the dog catcher. Once news gets around everyone will suddenly find a way to curb their dogs.
- If you want to continue to get mail, then you need to do something about the problem dogs in the neighborhood. Someone must know who owns these dogs - let them know the problem that their dogs are causing for the people in the neighborhood!! Call the dog warden / animal control on the dogs when you see them loose. If the owners have to bail their dogs out of jail a time or two, they'll learn to keep them home. The post office has the right to protect their carriers.
- Until the dogs in question are no longer there or appropriately confined, the post office will not deliver your mail. Once they've issued notice, you're pretty well out of luck. Put up the box on the corner for now, and begin calling animal control to report strays every single time you see these dogs loose. Ask your other non-offending neighbors to do the same. Eventually the owners will get tired of paying the impound fees and build a better fence, surrender them to a shelter, or find them new homes.
- Your an innocent in a baad place. Enjoy the walk.
- I think you either need to put up the mailbox like the postman says, or take more active steps to prevent the dogs from running loose. If your neighbors can't control their dogs they need to get better fencing or get rid of the dogs. You should call Animal Control and tell them what the situation is - I can't believe you wouldn't have laws against letting dogs run loose like that. If it's this much of a problem, don't be afraid to call and make an official complaint every time the dogs get off your neighbor's property. I have a hard time that the postal workers aren't complaining to Animal Control about this - it might be worth calling your post office and finding out what they are doing about the problem. It hardly seems fair to make you go to extra time and expense because your neighbors are breaking the law by letting their dogs run out of control.

- Your other option would be to drive to the Post Office to pick up your mail. I know for me that option is even less attractive.
- My mailbox is 200 ft away. Used to be a quarter of a mile away. My post office box is two and a half miles away. What is the problem? :o)
