Does the US postal service work on weekends?

I know they don't deliver on Sundays but if a package I ordered was shipped out during business hours on Friday, is it going to sit in a post office over the whole weekend or is it still in circulation?

2. there are workers in post offices everyday... mail moves on Saturday, but not Sunday...
3. The USPS works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Just because you don't have delivery on Sundays, doesn't mean that the USPS is not working. There are people in mail processing plants that process mail every day of the year. If something you ordered got shipped on Friday, it will travel Saturday, Sunday, Monday, etc. until it arrives at your door.
4. They don't even work on weekdays.
