anyone that can help me with post office job requirements?

I want to work for post office, i ordered this book online which was suppose help me out on postal exam and its about 1600 pages :| and too much information, i was just wondering if anyone knew how to apply or how the procedure for applying for post office job works? and how much does exam cost? thanks

1. You just wasted your money on this book. The post office is not hiring. They are offering early outs and buyouts. They are trying to downsize. They want to go to 5 day delivery. That means they need to get rid of one-sixth of the workforce, about 100,000 people. Does this sound like a company that is hiring? See if you can get your money back for the book. Good Luck!
2. It doesn't cost anything to take the test. Those ads you seen in papers, or online, wanting money for those tests are a rip off. Just call your local post office, or go too the USPS web page, it will have job openings listed. You may have to hunt through the web page, but it is there. Be warned though that they aren't hiring alot of new people right now. But you can give it a try.
