How do you mail a letter from Japan to the US?
I will be visiting Kyoto and my grandmother would like a snail-mail letter. How do I mail and address a letter FROM Japan to the US?

- You can address it the same way you would a letter from the US to the US. Add USA or America at the bottom of the To: address. Slap a 110 yen stamp on it and you are good to go.
- Write the address in English, go to the post office, buy the appropriate stamp (ask if you don't know which stamp you need), and mail it.
- You can write its address and add "USA", bring the letter to a post office, and they know what to do to bring it to US.
- The fare depends on size/weight. It is not always costing Yen100 to mail to USA. It also depends by transportation either by air or sea. If it's post card by sea, it costs just Yen60 for instance. Just bring your letter to the post office near you and ask them how much does it cost. (You can write it in English but must note "via airmail or sea mail" on.)
