Sending someone a gift through the U.S. postal service?

I've never mailed anything before other than a simple letter and I was going to send my girlfriend a this Zune she wanted but I have know Idea what kind of envelope I need to send it in or if i'm able to send it in a standard post office mail box or if i even should. Your comments will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

1. Place it in a box with fill material to protect it. Bring it to the post office and they will tell you the cost to ship it. You can use a padded envelope but the protection would not be the same. You still have to bring it to the post office. The rate depends on the weight and distance. ₪ ʎəɿʞɹɐq ₪
