Will the service at the U.S. Postal Service show us what health care will become?
Yesterday, I stood in line with others waiting to be served at my local post office. There was no one behind any counter for one then two then three minutes and probably longer than that. Is this the future of health care besides bankrupting the country?

- The US Postal service has been independent of the federal government for about 40 years. And the government will not be running health care so your question belies your ignorance of the matter. Besides, as it is, I have to wait MUCH longer at my doctor's office or at an ER than I've ever had to wait at a post office.
- It could be worse...could become like the DMV. "Please, wait in this line for 30 minutes so that you can get a number before you sit down and wait 2 hours for your APPOINTMENT that you showed up 20 minutes early for...."
- yes...its the end of the world...save yourself!
- Oh the horror! You had to wait a few minutes at lunchtime! The Postal Service delivers letters anywhere in the USA for the same low price. Whatever shall become of us if our health care system starts to work the same way?
- Yes, as someone pointed out, USPS is independent as of the early '80s i believe.. BUT, 9 of the 11 board of governors of the USPS are appointed by the Prez.. Congress establishes post offices and post roads.. and you also have the oldest law enforcement agency in the country in the USPIS.. So, though the USPS may not receive tax dollars directly, they sure as heck are influenced by government and government agencies using taxpayer dollars.. With that being said, you are correct. Most of any agency/programs created by the federal government has been wrought with waste, corruption, and inefficiencies. Intead of revamping current programs that have been deemed as problematic, the Feds created another taxpayer funded program.. which results in Government growing larger and therefore becoming less efficient, wasteful, and corrupt.
