Postal Letter

Why is the post office losing so much money?

I realize that online payments, the economic downturn, which has reduced the amount of junk mail sent out, along with texting and e-mail have impacted the post office. However, it seems like the post office is in more trouble than one would expect even with all the changes due to technology. Are there other reasons, aside from perhaps increased fuel prices for shipping, that are really hurting the U.S. postal system?

  1. The post office is losing so much money because it is failing to adapt to the reality of the current market place mostly because government requirements and regulations won't let it adapt. It's also faced increased competition from private companies that has hurt its more profitable services.
