If the USPS cuts back mail delivery to 5 days per week, will that include layoffs of lazy union postal workers?
I say if heads don't roll, they keep showing up and delivering the mail.

- Patches, don't really care if they're union or not. If they're lazy they gotta go
- Like THAT's gonna happen! Does this mean Amtrak will start laying off union workers too? And the country expects them to run our healthcare??!
- USPS has been trying to lure their lazy workers out the door with a series of early outs and incentives to no avail. The 5 day delivery idea will help them with PTF's and T-6's having to deliver the one day on the route that is the carrier is off. Mail processing only 5 days represents another cost savings. There will probably be no layoffs.
- The argument will be that the People have the right to have their mail delivered daily. It's not fair that only the rich can afford FedEx and UPS. Universal Postal Care !! - Change you can believe in!!
- Sometimes my mail comes around 10:00am. Other times it comes late in the evening. There have been times in winter when it gets dark and the mail man hasn't arrived yet. I live in a city of 50,000 people, so it's not like I'm in the middle of nowhere.
- If not it should, they could save a lot of money too if they stoped their advertising campaigns
- I would hope so, but rather doubt it.
- Patches, I appreciate you, but my wife is a very hard-working rural carrier. Will you make an exception in her case?
- Oh I see. You want to see more people out of work. What kind of American are you? Not a patriotic one that is for sure,
- Postal workers have no lay off contracts. The postal service will cut the work force only through attrition. The Postal service has millions of managers who are completely worthless, not needed, and waste ten times more money than the mail carriers. Those managers will remain. So will the problems.
- My dad works at the Post Office. He can't wait to retire.
- I have rural delivery and my mail is here at the same time right on the dot.Regardless of who you work for if you can't or won't do your job because of just plain poor work ethic you should be let go, union or not.I think Ben Franklin would do an overhaul of today's postal system and he would view UPS and FedEX as unamerican. Just my take on it but then again I have relatives that work for the USPS and they are anything but lazy.
