How long do US Postal Service packages take to get though US Customs in New York?

I package sent to me from Germany via the postal service arrived in NY on 14 March and I'm still waiting for it in Florida as of 25 March. The USPS here told me it was probably held up in Customs. Is there a log-jam there?

1. I had a package that took a month to get from japan to washington dc. most likely due to customs
2. I recently received a package that traveled for 5 weeks from India to the USA. I had nearly given up but, it finally showed.
