Can I get a tracking number from the USPS if I lost my receipt after I have already shipped an item?

I know the address I shipped the item to and I have my cancelled check I paid the USPS with. Can they pull this up at the post office or any other way?

If the item has been lost (and it's not considered lost until after 30 days), then you can file a report with them and they may have an internal way to track the item, but you cannot get a tracking number from USPS after you have already given them the item to mail.
