Postal Letter

Why are post office workers more stressed than other professions?

For example it was in the news last week that a postal worker committed suicide on a local train track, and the term "postal" comes from instances where they shoot co-workers out of rage. Is there job particularly stressful or cause insanity?? I think it's sad.

  1. They have deadlines. That's stressful.
  2. Not in New Zealand where I live. They are very laid back. Maybe they have a good workers union in New Zealand. There are very strict gun laws in New Zealand, and in most instances only the police, and hunters, own guns, so you don't get shootings! I doubt they are more stressed out than other professions as people from all walks of life commit suicide. We have lots of nice areas with trees and parks they can sit in at lunchtime. Also ours cycle around on push bikes. Some of them use scooters.
  3. People in all professions get pushed off the edge by work-related stress. Almost all jobs have deadlines. It certainly isn't a postal worker thing.
  4. My father raised me by working at the post office as a supervisor. He had to step down as a supervisor because of the stressful situations they always put him through, he said they were constantly trying to get him to treat his fellow coworkers more like numbers than employees because thats all the big guys really see. its just about like any other corporation where the little guy gets walked.
