Hello! I got a "job offer" on sitter city, and made the awful mistake of sending my resume. Now Im in fear...?

I believe this is a scam. The email looked like this: Hi and how are you doing today?? Thanks showing interest in taking care of my Girls, I am a Mother of a 2 girls,[Cindy 5yrs and Katie 7 yrs] which i guess you know it not easy to be.... because the dad and i has been divorced over 2 yrs plus. So that means you are caring for my girls from 10:00am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday. which would be (5 hours) starting from 10th of July till 8th of August Your Duties: Taking proper good care of the kids... Cooking for the kids... Taking there baths and cleaning them up after bath... I made some researches and the compensation for this position should be $600 / week and you are expected to work for about 5 Hours daily. I will start paying you $600 / week for your first week and as time goes on i see how good your service is to my girls and how much they get along with you, I will not hesitate to increase the pay. My company will pay for your first Week Service prior to our Arrival on or before the 10th of July because they want to be sure that you are committed to working with my family and to know you have been book down for us. They will be needing the following information to issue out the first week money for your service prior to my arrival to have you book down : * Name To Be On Check * Mailing Address * City * State / Province * Zip / Postal Code * Phone # An interview/meeting would be set up at the first day we arrive at your location with my girls. My company want this to be settled before the seminar because as soon as i get there, i will have to resume for the seminar the next day which means i will have only one day interview/meeting with you. I want to believe you will be giving us the best of service and also training my girls in the rightful way, you will be treated as part of the family from the minute we arrive. My girls likes playing with Toys and Games and i want to notify you that I have in the mean time arrange with a Toy/Game Agent Store that will be shipping down all the Toys/Games and any other things that would be with them to play with and make them happy prior to our arrival. Get back to me so I can have you booked for my company as they are rounding off plans and allotting money to issues that should be settled prior to my arrival. Thank you Linda WHAT CAN I DO IF THIS PERSON HAS MY FULL NAME, ADDRESS AND PHONE # NOW? :(

  1. Its just your name, address and phone number, anyone can get those from a phone book. Its not like you gave them your social security number so dont worry about it.
  2. Now they've found a sucker and know where they live. Sorry there is more to follow here. Keep a good eye on your credit report.
  3. Chicagoes09, I'm sorry to hear you had that experience with Sittercity. We take the privacy and safety of both our sitters and parents very seriously. Scam artists do use legitimate businesses in their attempts to secure money from individuals, and they seem to be getting more sophisticated in their attempts. Please know that at Sittercity.com, when someone registers as a caregiver looking for work, we try to educate them about common scams that can take place on Web sites, in fact we have pages on our site which list red flags that may indicate someone is trying to involve consumers in a scam: http://babysitters.sittercity.com/article/red_flags.html http://babysitters.sittercity.com/article/common_nanny_scams.html http://babysitters.sittercity.com/article/how_to_prevent_scams.html I'd be happy to go over this in more detail.
