FedEx or united states postal service?

this might sound like a stupid question but im trying to order something online and its giving me two different choices for the shipping. If i want the us postal service for abotr 3$ or fedex home delivery for 10. does that mean for the regular us postal service i have to go to the post office and recieve it? or does it still ship to my house?

  1. You should pick whatever is the LEAST EXPENSIVE service. USPS will ship to whatever address you give the company you are buying from... Yes, They will ship it to your house... you do not need to go to the post office to receive the package.
  2. Before ordering, see which one delivers faster, regardless of what options you have. Based on the Fed-Ex, $10 price tag, it may come to you faster. USPS for $3 is their priority 3-day service -- if you need it now, go with Fed-Ex. However, if you're not in a hurry and can wait for 3 days max, go with USPS. USPS is usually reliable.
  3. You will only have to go to the Post Office if the item is either too large to fit in your mailbox or leave in a safe place (like behind a storm door) if no one is home, or if a signature is required and no one is home. You would be left a notice informing you of where to pick it up and the earliest time (usually first thing the following business day). The notices we use have a phone number that you can call to request that the item be redelivered, and save yourself a trip. Just make sure you're home. FedEx may be faster, but at three times the cost, is it worth it? And my experience with them is that they're a pain in the rear end. Most of the time, a signature is required. They do not have set routes like postal routes. Most of the time, you know about what time your mailman comes. Not the case with FedEx, and trying to get hold of them is a problem. They just make three automatic attempts, and if they can't deliver it after the 3rd, it goes back.
  4. It goes to your home, make sure you specifiy "signature required" so they don't leave it at the door for someone to rip off, which they will do.
