Postal Letter

If something is sent US postal service to UK how does it arrive?

I have had a package posted to me from the US (To London), using the US Postal service. Does anyone know by what method it will arrive and how long roughly they normally take? (i.e. will it come by courier or by royal mail or similar?) Thanks in advance for any useful answers.

1. It will be delivered by Royal Mail. If it is a large packet, it will be delivered by a Royal Mail van, but whoever delivers it, it will be through the ordinary post. As for time to be delivered, that could depend on many factors. It could take a month, but it could take a week.
2. I'm not 100% positive but I think it would be shipped by the US postal service until it gets to England and is then handed over to your mail system (royal post?) I had a pen pal in Australia and all the letters were delivered my my local mail carrier. It would be easier for all countries to operate like this.... and they probably do.
