What service does USPS Express Mail International come in through in the UK?

Hello, I'm waiting for a package to come from the US to the UK. On the USPS tracking and confirm site, the latest update is: Into Foreign Customs, June 29, 2010, 10:08 pm, GREAT BRITAIN Can anyone tell me if the next stage will be to transfer to Parcelforce? Or could be any other service within the UK? Thanks.

  1. Depends on the size - it will either be Parcelforce or Royal Mail - USPS doesn't use any other carriers in the UK. The next stage should be that whoever it is transferred to will write to you with details of any VAT or duty you have to pay (and their handling charge) and once you have paid these the parcel should be delivered. That's the theory anyway - keep checking the USPS tracking site and it will tell you when the package is released from Customs and if you don't hear from Parcelforce within a few days it would be worth giving your local depot a ring because they aren't too great at sending out the letters asking for the VAT and duty to be paid and they won't release the parcel until they are. EDIT Eleni is incorrect - you can continue to track the parcel through the USPS website until the parcel leaves Customs. Once it's left Customs you should be able to track the parcel through the Parcelforce website - they use the same tracking number.
  2. I have had lots of dealings with USPS which are great the snag always comes from UK customs e.g my last parcel took 2 days to arrive in the UK from the US then 6 days from customs via royal mail, and no tracking available once it hits UK hope this helps :)
