will my check from farmers insurance get forwarded with my usps address change?

I recently was ran over on a bike and I was about to move from one city to the other before that happened. So, the insurance kept asking for the address I was currently at. They took the current address even though I told them I was moving in a short amount of time. Now they are sending me a check for my damages and I am worried that it may not be forwarded. I filed my change of address online with usps a couple days ago. Does any one have farmers and know if this will get forwarded or if they will return it to sender. Because if they return my check to sender I don't think I will ever be seeing it. One thing I would like to include since someone suggested I sent farmer's my change of address. This is not my insurance company. This is the other person's who hit me. SInce, I was on a bike I didn't have insurance. There fore this would be my only correspondence with them.

  1. It will be your best bet to call Farmers and ask them to send it directly to your new address. Have them cancel the original check and reissue a new one.
  2. Checks are almost always sent first class mail. First class mail will either be forwarded to you at your new address or if the sender uses an "address service requested" endorsement, the check will be returned to Farmers with your new address and then they will re-send it to You at your new address. To relieve some anxiety, why don't you also send Farmers a change of address? Wise people also send ALL of their correspondents a change of address notification.
  3. Not all mail can be forwarded. Contact the insurance company and ask where they mailed the check. If the check cannot be forwarded to you, it will be returned to them with your current address.
