Postal Letter

The postal service is going to lose $6B this year. Should they be congratulated?

If only Obamacare loses just $6B/year, right? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101001/ap_on_bi_ge/us_postal_finances_1

  1. Actually that is a huge success. It if wasnt so sad it would be funny.
  2. They should be privatized in my eyes. They have more equipment than UPS and FedEx combined and cannot turn a profit. They use UPS and Fedex to ship their overnight and 2 day packages. So why are they not a private company?
  3. They also got 3 bail outs to pay for their retired Union members benefits.
  4. Sure! Give all the employees pensions the taxpayers can't afford
  5. Congrats to the US Postal System for keeping up with the governments standards!!!!!
  6. "A significant portion of USPS losses in the past few years has been due to an unprecedented decline in mail volume – down by more than 20 percent since 2007" Wow.......all those free market capitalists who invented the internet which created email and web account payment abilities should all be killed. Too bad the USPS had no clue what free markets would do to snail mail. Why spend any money on postage when most can be done over the web for free? Most on line stores ship via UPS or Fed Ex. The USPS should turn itself into another pick up and delivery carrier to compete with the big boys. The stamp industry ranks up their in feet pedled cars that Fred Flintstone used and might as well be reduced to a once a week service. and turn mail carriers into truck delivery drivers. It's only going to get worse as more and more seniors get the hang of using a mouse and a key board. http://www.usps.com/communications/newsroom/2010/pr10_077.htm
  7. Not bad for a union deal. From what I understand and told by my mailman, they will cut 400,000 mailmen and he is retiring before then. No saturday mail and the ones we had before this guy couldn't read.
  8. i helping out I buy from ebay but no thy need to get their act together
  9. Obama is gonna have them bail out they are a Union and Unions are Obamas special interest. USPS is bankrupt for multiple reasons. One if I send a piece mail in my town to a business that's a 15 minute drive west. It gets shipped an hour and half south to be sorted then shipped back up to my town then 15 minutes south. If I send a package north it again gets shipped an hour and a half south to be sorted. Then it is shipped north. That would like flying to NYC from SF by Flying to Hawaii before you board a flight that goes to NYC.
  10. Hey look UPS made money in 2009 in the middle of the recession, they also made money every quarter of this year. lol Private companies are vastly superior to government run companies, every single time. http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/financials/secfilings.asp?ticker=UPS:US They made about 800 Million in Q1 and 500 in Q2. Of which, the government promptly took 1/3 of so that it can run its $hitty version of their company. lol goverment = fail What kind of incompetence am I paying for?
  11. Only $6B!! Why, they'll probably be reprimanded by Obama. This amount is not nearly enough to bring chaos into the U.S. economy. How in the world will this piddly amount cause more folks to be included on the welfare enrollment. This $6B may not be enough to create a political crisis that would force U.S. politicians, particularly the Democratic Party, to enact legislation "establishing a guaranteed national income. I'm sure the postal service will do much better next year. Sorry... my tongue is stuck in my cheek & it won't stop being so very sarcastic.
  12. Hey, it's Guberment run! And they want to take care of us with 0bamacare?
