Is there a way to forward mail to my new address?
I'm moving in a couple of days and have notified almost everyone of my new address. But I know I'm forgetting some companies, organizations and individuals. Is there anything I can do to get the postal service to forward my mail to my new address?

- There is a card at the post office that will enable you to forward all your mail up to 1 year after you move.
- You submit a change of address form at the post office that delivers your mail now. Most 1st class mail is forwarded, for one year. Periodicals are forwarded for 90 days, after which time the sender is notified, if you haven't already done so. Certain pieces of mail will not be forwarded, but returned to the sender, for a fee paid by the sender, with your new address information. This allows them to correct their records. After one year, all 1st class mail is returned to the sender with your new address. After 18 months, mail is returned as 'undeliverable as addressed'. You aren't expected to remember everything. But the yellow stickers you see on forwarded mail should be a reminder to you that here's one you forgot. 1st class and Priority Mail packages, should they be addressed to your old address, will be forwarded. But anything sent to your old address by Media Mail or Parcel Post will be forwarded to you Postage Due for the full amount. Most people don't know this. Some people get regular shipments of merchandise, and don't even think about it. Just so you know. Another thing you should do - the carrier at your new address will appreciate it, because almost nobody thinks to do it, is send a change of address card to the office of your new address. Fill it out exactly as you do the other one, but on the 'address' side, address it to Postmaster (your new zip code). This lets your new mail carrier know you're coming.
