How does the USPS forever stamp pricing work?

1. When you buy the Forever stamps, you pay whatever the current price is for first-class stamps. Currently it's 44 cents. The stamps are good forever. Even if the price of a regular first-class stamp goes up, you can still use your Forever stamp.
2. You buy them at the current rate for 1st class postage (now it's 44 cents). Whenver the postage goes up in value, so will the forever stamps.
