what to do if a postal service loses my mail?

I was supposed to receive a check from a company 3 weeks ago. Now I am pretty certain that the postal service used by the company has lost it. What steps should I take now in order to get my check? Can I ask the company to send me another?

1. Yes, you could ask your company to send you another check; but ask how long it should take before you receive it? Inform the Post Office that your mail is not arriving to your address. My lousy, lazy Mailman has given my neighbors my mail or delivered it very very late "6 weeks late". Thank goodness, they knocked on my door and handed it to me. Like you some mail is very important. I reported it and now have an outstanding Mailman and have not had a problem since.
2. You can ask the company to put a trace on it. They may cancel the old check and send you a new one immediately. But, they may also wait to see what the results of the trace are.
3. Ask the company to stop the old check and send a new one.
