Postal Letter

How to ship package at the post office?

I'm a college student and need to send something back to my parents. I do not have any online transaction so I cannot print labels online. I need to go to the post office to ship it. I have it packaged tightly with address, etc. (it's a box and weighs about 5 pounds) I need to know if they accept cash there. If they do, do i just wait and line or what happens? I've never been at a post office before so I need a crash course on how to order postage with cash. Please help!

  1. You don't have to have an online transaction in order to print labels online. USPS website will allow you to print up online postage - you would simply need to know the weight, dimensions, and address info. If you go to the post office, you would have to wait in line. Just tell them what type of shipping you want. Some clerks are nice enough to give you a run-down of the shipping services with costs - so you can pay for least expensive plus decide on how fast you would like the service to be. Yes, they will accept cash.
  2. Just stand in line. When it's your turn, they will weigh it, and tell you the different prices, for the different ways to send it. Just mail it parcel post rate. That is the cheapest. They will get it in two or three days. It goes as quickly as priority. Don't believe the bs from the clerk. They try to sell you something that you don't need. Good Luck!
