Do the 1700 fedex workers laid off yesterday still believe that capitalism is the best way to save America?

Business at Fedex is UP 16.5% Profits for the QUARTER are up, exceeding $320,000,000. But they were less than analysts projections, so it is good bye jobs.

Public Comments

  1. ask the chinese
  2. wonder how that hopey changey thing is working out for them?
  3. Do you think they will vote for the Democrats in November?
  4. It is Capitalism that gave birth to FedEx. Companies like FedEx wouldn't even exist were it not for Capitalism, so what is your point? FedEX is *required by law* to act in the best interests of it's shareholders and that means establishing a healthy profit margin.
  5. So Communism keeps things booming all the time? Why did Obama lose so many jobs again? How's that green president working out for you?
  6. Personally I would much rather live in a country where there is a chance for failure and also a chance for great success than a country that everyone has the same guaranteed income that is too low to live on.
  7. Yes because most of them are hard working people that will move on they are not lazy socialist/Communist who think the government should just support them no matter what.
  8. If you read the stories about the FedEx layoffs you'll see the company is actually trying to save jobs. There are two companies operated by FedEx that handle small freight transfers. Both companies are losing money. When resources are finite they must be allocated to their most efficient uses. In this case, FedEx could either choose to close both companies and shudder thousands of workers or, as is the case, they combine companies hoping the economies of scale will turn things around and only layoff 1700 employees. Continuing to do business as usual, which in this case was losing money, was not an option.
  9. nothing hopey changey about continuing trade deregulation right-wing idiots.
  10. Many of them probably do, sadly. They've been convinced that if only they'd work hard enough, they too could become a CEO making 30 million dollars per year. It's their fault they got laid off. They should have met those anyalyst projections...somehow. In this country, we're convinced that everyone has exactly what they've "earned"...That is unless, of course, they're poor and get a check from the state to prevent their family from starving. In that case, they are greedy leeches. Never mind that corporations account for 90+ percent of all fleecing in America. It's sad how easy it is to manipulate people to screw their own selves over. edit: I should note that I don't outright oppose capitalism. What I outright oppose is laissez faire capitalism which is what the right wing conservatards support. Instead, it makes more sense to continue on in the fashion of FDR's new deal. Conservative conveniently forget that it was socialist programs that saved this country and allowed it to prosper in the 50's. And the confusion over all of this is apparent in examples such as the tea party idiot whose sign said "keep your government hand off my medicare". And it's funny that I don't hear these tea party douche bags demanding SOCIAL security to be done away with.
  11. Capitalism is not only the best way, but the only way.
  12. That is how the real world works.Nobody ever said it was fair.Only in government worker la,la land are things safe.
  13. without capitalism there would be no america to save.
