how is the currency denomination is differentiated for different countries on postal stamps?

for example rupees / pound / dollar etc. and how it is represented on the stamp

1. The best source for that information is a stamp catalog which can be found in most good libraries. Scott's is the best. Each country uses its own denomination on their stamps and set their own postage rates. I would think that there is nothing more than an unwritten agreement to deliver mail in India, for instance, that was posted in the US>
