Can the U.S. Postal Service Hold A Package for me at the post office so I can pick it up?
I don't want gifts to be sent to my house where my parents may find out what they are. Is there some way that it can be held at the post office so I can just take an I.D. and receive the package from an associate? Thx.

- It's impossible to only hold "some of the mail". Your local post office will hold mail for you, up to 30 days at a time. But it has to be all mail for the single address. If you want to receive gifts in another manner, then get a PO Box at your post office. Some are as cheap as $20 for 6 months.
- Mail volume on Tuesday is the lightest so that could be the choice they make to cut service. ... - You cannot pick and choose what you want delivered and what you want held. We will either hold all of it, for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 30, or none of it. And you get one pickup, after that, delivery is resumed. For what you want, you need to rent a PO box. Mail sent to that address will stay at the PO until you pick it up. Be aware, though that some shippers require a street address and will not deliver to a PO box. Your only alternative is to rent a 'street address' box at a UPS Store or other private mailing service, and they are far more expensive than USPS boxes. My annual PO box is $72. I receive a fair amount of packages where the shipper will not send USPS, and it's a pain. I looked into the UPS Store nearby and they want $125 a year for the same size box as I have now. I don't need the box, just a convenient place for my non-USPS packages to go where I can easily get them. $125 is a joke.
