I don't think the death penalty should ever be used. No person has the right to decide whether someone lives or dies, and that right isn't given no matter what the other person did. And I don't think racism should be a crime. I think it's vile and disgusting, but it's not illegal unless it turns into action. Until then, though, it's just ignorance that we look down upon.

The death penalty should be reserved for vicious murders, not verbal or written messages. Since the article didn't mention anything about the death penalty, I am even more in awe with this question.

Our courts are to carry out justice in accordance with the law. Racism is not illegal (in and of itself). To kill a person simply on the basis of being a racist is not justice (or anything close to it).
