Why do US postal workers lack any common sense?
I came home just now and a package containg a $200 item I ordered was just sitting there near the mailbox, on the sidewalk where any kid could just come along and take it. Now I'm worried about other items I ordered, maybe they've already been stolen.

- You should request the packages are sent requiring a signature. The post office has no idea how much your package is worth and they just deliver it.
- Well, you should have a little chat with your local postal office manager and file a complaint. Over the holidays they sometimes use fill-in people. That shouldn't have happened, usually there's policy about leaving packages and often the mailperson will leave an attempted delivery notice and you would have to make a trip to the PO to pick it up. That's what should have happened. They may have left it so you wouldn't have to make a special trip. So, maybe, just maybe, they were trying to do something nice. They would have no way of knowing the value of the package. Now, I will take exception to your comment - you didn't have to make such a comment, it was inappropriate. Your one delivery person didn't use sense, not everyone so I'd like to say don't generalize a statement like that. And no, I'm not a postal worker, but you lack common sense in making such a broad statement about US postal workers in general.
- To be fair, being a postal carrier is far more difficult than one would think. However this behavior is not just isolated to the U.S. P.S and affects both FedEx as well as UPS. Seeing that the carrier did in fact leave the package on the street and not on the doorstep is serious and my advice would be to contact your local station and file a complaint.
- If you had to do their job, you would understand -.-
- I would contact the postmaster and have any packages that came when you're not home to be held at the Post Office until you can pick them up.
- Two reasons most of the employees that are connected with the Post Office are ex vets and the middle and upper management are all jews. I hope this helped you to understand why these kinds of things happen when the Post Office is involved.
- If you were expecting a $200 package, why would you have shipped to your home if you won't be there when the mail comes? The mail carriers are required to leave packages at the mail receptacles. We don't get paid extra to do something special. Especially when I have 200 other packages to deliver.
- If it was valuable then you should have requested it be sent with insurance or with a signature confirmation. We don't know what is in your packages. For all we know it was filled with air. Don't blame the Post Office for you not doing your part in insuring the safety of your parcels.
