What to do if postal office lost my package?
I ordered an item from a secure site. They gave me a tracking number and a receipt via emai. The tracking number says the item is on hold at the postal office but the postal office says it can't be found. I haven't tried throwing the the tracking number in there face proving its there but If they DID lose my package can I sue or do they give me my money back ($220)?

- They are obligated by law to compensate for the damge caused (though in most cases, they will only compensate for the value amount you entered when sending). Unless they have a valid signature from yourself in having delivered the product, they will be liable for sue. Most cases they will refund your money back without a fight, if you have a valid tracking number. If they don't, give them hell of a fight and you can claim alot more for your emotional distress, and the opportunity cost ( you can calculate this by measuring what you're worth per hour times the amount of time it will take to find an alternative. If they were rude to you, and you felt emotionally hurt, you can claim even more. If they were in anyway racist or totally a Wick with a capital D, then sue their brains out..) In most cases... going to court to win a case takes a painfully long time and generally more expensive than $220... unless you have an exceptional lawyer like the one that managed to sue a dry cleaner over $35,000 USD for a pair of jeans worth less than $100 USD. He claimed it has sentimental value, and it would cost him (opportunity cost wise) alot more for him to find it in tcleahailand. He further sued millions to the poor dry cleaners then ended up losing the case because the judge thought he was being rediculous. Moral of the story: Yes, you have every right to sue. Most likely you will get your money back $220. You CAN sue for more (unless you signed a special agreement), but make sure you don't go over.
- I would contact the company you purchased the item from and ask them to follow through for you on locating the package. They will have an attorney and could possibly locate the package by contacting an attorney to do the leg work for them. If you are tracking the package with the website for postal service, some times what you find on that site is not current information because they may not update the site as soon as an item moves from one location to another. I have seen the same information on my screen and the same day the packaage arrives at my door. So keep checking and hopefully it will show up.
