Postal Codes?
Kay so for a bar code in lets say Superstore, it tells you the information for the item, for example...510 229 5=aisle 10=section 2=shelf 29=item number So for postal codes, M1K 5G4...what do those letters and numbers stand for...specifically ! M=? 1=? K=? 5=? G=? 4=?

- When the new postal codes were introduced (and my address changed from Toronto 7 to Toronto M4S 2L2) there was actually a map in the postal code directory that showed the areas covered by the first three digits. This is not engraved on my memory, of course, but basically the M stands for the overall district, in this case Metropolitan Toronto, the 1 and K are the horizontal and vertical grid lines defining the subdistricts, the final three digits pinpoint the location more exactly. For instance, "2L2" the first 2 applied to several streets in my neighbourhood, the L applied to just my street and the final 2 was just for my side of the street.
