How long it take for the regular USPS letter to be delivered to Canada?

I need my travel documents within 2 days unless I have to cancel my flight ticket. I contacted visa office in Detroit and they say documents were sent via regular USPS Mail on Dec. 29th 2010 to the address in Toronto, Canada. It's been a week and half. Does it really take that long for the regular package to be delivered from US to Canada? I received it today (Jan 10) So 8 business days or 13 days total.

1. We often use UPS here *in work* we are in Montreal Canada and to send something to the US should not take more than a week unless its a holiday. Did you get a tracking # for your letter. All stuff sent via UPS has a tracking # that you can track online. Good luck!
2. I work in Detroit, and it routinely takes 10 days to two weeks for a letter sent from our office to get to Toronto.
