How to get your mail from a postal office?
When you need to get things taking care of, some times the mail does not arrived til late afternoon. And it makes things harder for you. When you call the postal office clerk they stated you can't have your mail(s) because it is in "the truck". For this case, what type of legal documentation do I need to take it with me to the post office in order to get my important mail before it gets to "the truck"? And IF it is already in the truck why can't I have my mail? Thank you for all of your answers.

- Mercy. You can't buck the system and the mail isn't yours until it is in your mail box. You need to tour the P.O. and see how complicated distributing one billion pieces of mail is.
- BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD. OPEN A PO BOX THEN YOU CAN GET YOUR MAIL WHEN THE POST OFFICE OPENS. OTHERWISE YOU HAVE TO WAIT LIKE THE REST OF US COMMONNERS.
- >"For this case, what type of legal documentation do I need to take it with me to the post office in order to get my important mail before it gets to "the truck"?" You don't need any special legal documentation to have your mail held at the post office. What's so important about your specific mail? If you want something to get things at certain time then use FedEx! You the service you're willing to pay for. Do yourself a favor, go in person to the Post Office and talk with someone and tell them what you would like to do, and they can tell you about options. >"And IF it is already in the truck why can't I have my mail? " Those are regulations of the postal service.
- If you want your mail earlier, then you have 2 options. the 1st is to open a PO box. Most mail is ready in PO boxes by 10 am. sometimes sooner. The 2nd is to pay for special handling of your mail. You have to pay for that, it's not free. It's labor intensive, so it's also not cheap. Now the next question is what is your important mail? How is a carrier to know what is important and what isn't? As a mail carrier, I am not allowed to hand off mail out of order. I don't care what document you would hand to me, I wouldn't give it to you until I was ready to service your address. Having said that, I may be able to to give you your mail while it's in the "case" but once I pull the mail down, the party is over. The reason your not able to have your mail when it's on the truck is because it's in a drop point order. We have a route that we follow every day, and that the way we deliver your mail. In order. If your getting your mail late in the day, then you later in the order and pulling your mail out is a hassle. We are also are under a tight schedule, the 5 or 10 minutes it takes to go thru the mail can cause a real problem in our routes. so, the answer to your problem is, get a PO Box.
