Postal Letter

Has anyone else experienced a Delay in postal service from the UK?

My grandmother sent a package to me (im in the US and live on the east coast) it usually takes about 10-15 days to reach me but it's been 3 weeks now, has anyone else had a problem with getting late packages from England. They had snow, we had snow and obviously the holiday season could have effected things but I know she would be heartbroken if it didn't reach us and I'd like to give her good news

  1. If only you could track the package.. if the snow is light, there should be no prob with delivering the package.
  2. Not experience it from the international side, but from the UK side of the delays that have now more or less faded out here. Remember that when there is a collection and transit difficulty inland, that messes up the exchange of things through depots, the same weather problems also affected aviation and messed up air transport and hence affected 'air' mail transportation. And unless you've been in the sharp end of the mail management side (i did for a time, Royal Mail and for a courier company in their mail managment aka 'post' side), you probably dont appreciate how much of a backlog that's caused when the external bits grind to a halt, after all - if the stuff that needs to be moved can't be despatched, it just ends up sitting there til it can, and if you still have stuff adding to the backlog... Well, i think you can work the rest out for yourself :p Notably, someone who recently or still works for Royal Mail or a courier firm, will no doubt explain it better from more involved perspective.
  3. I was Googling about this and found your question.I'm in Eastern Europe. I've been waiting for a few packages to arrive from the U.K. Usually it would take 3-5 days to reach but it has been 2 weeks now. Since now I see that not only me is going through this I suppose it must be due to the bad weather and the holiday season that they got delayed.
