sent package to wrong postal address using the US postal service as a priority mail?

Today, I sent a package to wrong postal address using the US postal service as a priority mail. It had some candies and a birthday card. I wrote the address as 376 Street Name instead of 303 Street Name. City, State, Zip code were correct. I even wrote the phone number correctly. What are my options now? Can I direct the packet to the correct address now?

  1. There's really no way to redirect the package. What happens now really depends upon the post office at the destination. They could deliver to the incorrect address that you put and then it could be returned to you. But most likely the mail carrier will recognize the name of the recipient and deliver it to the correct address.
  2. Tom is fairly correct. You really can't do too much. Hopefully the regular carrier will be on duty the day that this package comes in. They should be able to deliver it to the proper address. One thing in your favor is that the bad number 376 is a very unusual number for a house. Very few streets would have a number that high(76). There would have to be 38 homes on each side of the street to get that high on a block. Most likely it is a non existent address. If the regular is off or on vacation, it could be returned to you.
