USPS Priority Mail question?
I sent out a package on wednesday 2/9. I received word saturday morning at 1:30AM that it went straight to a facility 3 hours away from where I'm sending it to. Shouldnt it of gotten to the post office of the area I'm sending it to all ready? And if the post offices closed early (which they do in the city I'm sending it to), whats the policy of dropping off a package? Do they drop it off at the postal office or do they send it back to the facility until it can be resent to the post office?

- Call USPS and ask what is happening
- When you mail anything (unless it is going to an address that is served by the same post office that you sent it from) it is sent from the post office to a central sorting facility. From this facility it is sent, along with other mail, to another facility closer to the intended destination. It is again resorted, and continues on until it reaches the facility that serves the destination post office. Once or twice a day shipments are sent to the post office. If the post office is closed, the driver who is making the delivery has a key to drop off the mail. If you sent the package out Wednesday after the last shipment from the post office, it would not have gotten to the first sorting facility until Thursday, and depending on the distance, it could have gotten to the final sorting facility Saturday. This means that it will be at the destination post office tomorrow, and should be delivered tomorrow or Tuesday.
