Applying for Postal Service Job !?
I was interested in applying for the postal service because I was told it's a very good employment opportunity . What is the process and what are the qualifications to apply ? My aunt is a mail carrier and told me about the test you have to take . Is it difficult ? I am 21 years old with a HS diploma, variety of employment backgrounds and military experience . Any info helps ! Thanks so much !

- Go to the Post Office and ask for a job application. There is also a U.S. Post Office website with employment information and open positions. There is also a website with practice tests and information on applying for taking the test, applying for jobs and veterans preference. It does sound like the competition is stiff, and it is advisable to take some time to look at the practice tests. Even with a 5 point veteran's preference you will need a good score to get hired. There are several strategies in working to for the Post Office. One is to take the first job that is offered to get on the roles and then apply for better positions as they open up. There is a risk that you will not like the some of the jobs which can be very demanding. Another strategy is to specify the types of jobs you are interested. If you are looking for more than an entry level position, competition with be stiff. Good luck The PracticaL Mentor.
- Why would it be a good opportunity? They've been laying so many postal workers and often only accepting part time or seasonal workers. I have a buddy that works there and he say it offers no reward emotionally or mentally. Luckily, he's still there.
