Postal Letter

If you address a letter or a package correctly except for the state will it still reach its destination? USPS?

If you address a letter or a package correctly (Name, address, zip code etc) except for the state (like right zipcode but wrong state) will it still reach its destination if delivered by the USPS?

  1. The very odd incident in which the entire address actually matches an address at both the right zip code AND the wrong state will create a situation where the postal worker handling the letter or package will most likely return it to the sender for improper info. In most every other case, it will go to the right destination based on the zip code since the mail is handled almost entirely by electronic zip code readers. Incidentally, if it's missing the zip code but has the right city, state, address, it will also usually get there without problems. Ah, the magic of mail! ;) So to recap: yes, it should get there since you have the right zip code. Hope this helps.
