USPS Flat Rate Envelope International Tracking?

I have a flat rate envelope for the USPS I'd like to use to ship a gift to a friend in another country because its quite a bit cheaper to do. I know USPS doesn't offer tracking automatically with the flat rate envelopes and boxes when used internationally, but am I able to purchase a tracking number for it online or at the post office? If so, how much would that cost? Thanks!

1. No. The Flat Rate Priority Mail Envelope does not offer any tracking. It is not a service that can be purchased in addition to postage. If you absolutely must have tracking, the Small Flat Rate Box may fit your need.
