would dropped charges effect me from getting a job as a mailman?

when i was about 17 my friend and i got booked for theft under $5000 and i took the heat for a knife he had since he was on probation already. We ended up spending a day and half in custody befor getting out on bail anyway i was only visiting for a month from a diff province so i went to court befor my hearing to get it dealt with and the charges ended up getting dropped.(theft under $5000, possession of a prohibited weapon) I am 22 now and i would like to get a job as a mailman would any of that show up on a background check? the crimes took place in toronto any input would be appreciated.

  1. The crimes would only be in the police files - no criminal record. If the Post Officer does an in depth search , they might see them. Go to the Police Station and pay a small fee for a criminal record check. Sees what's there. If the dismissal is anywhere, a lawyer can get it cleared. Good luck.
  2. it is possible. contact the police department & ask them if it would show up. & its worth a try if you want the job. the worse they can do is say no.
