What do you folks think of the Daily Mail?

John Bercow recently described the paper as a "sexist, racist, bigoted, comic cartoon strip". He also apologised for breaking the trade descriptions act by describing the Mail as a "newspaper". What do you think? I appreciate that Bercow is himself a controversial figure and not very popular but I think it's an opinion that a lot of people share.

I have only read a little of the Daily Mail when we were in London last month, so I don't have an opinion.

If bercow doesn't like it maybe I'll start reading it.
It isn't a paper, it is a tabloid. Like the Post or the Daily News. Newspapers are the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
When something is called sexist it gets more readers.
Although it is available over on this side of the Big Pond, I've never read it. I prefer Irish Echo...
On that, John Bercow is absolutely correct. Then again, I'm one of the people they describe as the "loony left", on account of the fact that I'm loony enough to believe that: * not all black and asian people are violent criminals. * there is a difference between homosexuality and paedophilia. * I recycle my waste. Like I said - loony left.
I have little time for John Bercow, but he's absolutely spot on this time. It's a poisonous, hate driven, wallowing sea of pessimism. Yet its actions in reporting the Stephen Lawrence trial were nothing short of inspirational! Just occasionally, even the worst can surprise us.
It's a lot like Fox News or the New York Daily News. It was the firs British paper aimed at the lower working classes. It's what's know as a tabloid in the States. It concentrates more on scandal than real news but also has some real news.
It's one of the only newspapers that actually tells the truth about what is happening in this country. I presume Bercow was describing himself with the comments which he made Lol.
That sounds about right. Although maybe calling it 'comic' is a bit too generous.
Simply a right wing tabloid masquerading as a respectable broadsheet.
The Daily Mail is guilty of treason, the revolution would like to confirm to all who advertise in it, you paid your money and you took your choice, the MoS has an editor with good taste in music, its agenda is anti capitalist (I'm not getting into a debate about duty and honour (very uncool, fashion, celebs and harming civilisation through humiliation and basically cleaning up from the very boring trillions of capitalist pounds over the years spent on, Yawn (that's gone too) education) The problem lies (of course) in the 'business' model and the 'We want' childishness that goes (went) with lawyer 'governence'. Politics is complicated, the multicultural tourist town that is the UK makes politics a challenge for a variety of adult reasons that send those who want to be politically active to sleep (I worry, I only did so because of the cones hotline (now The Big Cones (aka bs)) if I had known failure was soo rewarded (£110K pension) by the establishment I'd have (likely) lived my life. To be fair I will give you a flavour of what I'm (a qualified private sector manager by trade) am talking about; All individuals are prejudiced, myself it's vegetarians and <In Part Removed> I am aware of my prejudice, social groups you may dislike need a political voice, also your view of utopia has no relevence (the empowered right wing leave it, don't make the example of what you want be compared with the genuine vulnerable and disadvantage, I'd trust the police to keep an eye on such people and to arrest those who make a beeline for them before I listen to the same failed priority lists of training issues (yourselves) that have failed for centuries, if your motivation is your own priority list and it isn't arming or otherwise protecting the disabled lesbian hindu (who isn't white (culture theft is sad)) from family, tradition and culture on terms of equality (you have your unique experiences, everyone does, whities ruin it all, always have done) no the sinister whities have nothing of political and social value to offer except their own insincere politeness (I speak as a politically left of centre (with a care mode) politically colourblind whitey from a feral upbringing with a mlther more akin to Myra Hindley (socially mother Teresa) and a father closer to Fred West than his hero, himself (or was it Thatcher, who can tell what radicalised communist scabs who got a big slice from privatisation, or indeed, who cares, well he did as it happened so things got pretty dark I can tell you, but I can confirm them reading The Mail and Telegraph didn't help the fraudulent 'core values' it just created nazis (and (later) al qaeda!) (my guess why Jim Crow loving David "Hitler" Moron and Dickless Sarcozy are on the confederate side of the Libyan civil war), where was I, oh yes, empowering minority groups and ensuring their protection is seen as a mirror of our own civilisation (as heavily fought for but swept under the carpet because it's depressing (it isn't, that statement is a fraud, it is humbling and agreed priorities for anyone who understands Britishness (tolerance, patience, politeless, respect of values (oddly not humour), respect of family (even after tragedy), I'm sure no one wants to hear about growing up in fear, isolation etc. Then they all find Monk's The Scream (example) unfathomable don't they? (I can't stop being a capitalist and, 'It may not be pretty but we get the job done.' AM/JB) so what does it take for a decent person working for a decent wage with decent values who has seen a death cirtificate, 150 hours of additional training.
