Postal Letter

I live in the USA. I mailed a registered letter to a friend in Turkey 8 days ago. He still has not received it?

I have a tracking number. I entered it several times. The letter was received at a New York facility on June 27, it says it's in transit? My postal office doesn't seem to have any information beyond this. Does anyone know what may be going on?

1. I'm sure it's lost in the Turkish postal system.
2. It takes a loooong time. Someone mailed me a letter from the US to Mexico and it took three weeks.
3. Since the letter is registered it will take longer to process. Registered letters do not go to normal mail it has to be handled by certain people only.
4. will you know those Turkeys they don't fly so fast.He should be getting it in a few more days.Gosh don't push the Turkeys they hard working birds.They only want to make a better living for their feathered family.
