US Postal Service "Sorting Complete"?? Problem?

Hey few weeks ago I ordered an ebay item from California. When I checked the USPS Tracking&Confirm, it said that it had arrived where I lived (Columbia, SC). But I never got my item. Few days later, it had: "Sorting Complete" status (and it said that sorting was completed in California?WTH? I never got the item and it went back to California??)
