Why do people swarm the mailman?

when he is trying to put the mail away...especially at apartment complexes. It's like 120 degrees outside and I can tell he is roasting, trying to put the mail away, and people are swarming him, not letting him do his job.

1. It's not necessarily swarming the mailman if you are simply trying to get your mail.
2. You know what, you're right! Ever since I was a kid I always looked forward to the mail!
