How can i get a free virus protection program from norton or anything safe online?

Im 18 and im in college and i dont have enough money for the virus protection for my computer my job only pays 5 dollars an hour and i cant afford to spend hundreds or on those protections i need my laptop for home work but i dont have the protection and i was wondering is there any way i can download a free software online thanks in advance.

1. You could use Malwarebytes. I use that when I need free virus protection.
2. Malwarebytes. AVG. Avast, and God knows what else. I've got nothing against Norton except it sucks the guts out of your system.
3. Avast - for virus protection. SUPERantispyware - is self explanatory. Both have free and paid versions for download. I use the paid versions - by choice. Initially, try the free versions for a month or so, then decide. Run a 'quick' scan daily, and a 'full' scan weekly (at least)
